August 16, 2017

Game of Thrones - season 7, episodes 4-5

In this episode of Badass Women Save Themselves, Jove and Blyth continue their discussion of Game of Thrones.

Back in Season Six, Daenerys Targaryen told Tyrion Lannister, “Lannister, Baratheon, Stark, Tyrell, they’re all just spokes on a wheel.  This one’s on top and that one’s on top and on and on it spins, crushing those on the ground. We’re not going to stop the wheel. I’m going to break the wheel.” In this episode, we go House by House and discuss what’s gone wrong, and what’s gone so, so right for the villains and heroes of Game of Thrones. Join us as we discuss Season Seven episodes 4-5.

Badass Women Save Themselves: The Shannara Chronicles

July 5, 2017

Badass Women Save Themselves

The Shannara Chronicles

In 2016, MTV launched its YA response to HBO's Game of Thrones, a fantasy series based on novels by Terry Brooks. The story follows three unlikely heroes as they try to save the Four Lands, challenging gender stereotypes as they go. The storytelling isn't as intricate and the acting isn't nearly as good as Game of Thrones, but Shannara has much to recommend it, including some yummy eye candy.

Badass Women Save Themselves

5 Reasons To Watch Game Of Thrones

This episode Jove Belle and Blythe Rippon chat about Game Of Thrones and each give thier top 5 reasons that they think you should watch it.

Game of Thrones has won more Emmys than any prime time television shows, and with good reason: arguably the most ambitious show ever to grace the small screen, GoT is epic in narrative and aesthetic scale. Its plot twists and turns until you're spinning, and it's a good idea not to get too emotionally attached to any character (although, good luck with that). In this episode, we give five reasons to watch the show.

In this episode, we discussion our top five non-canon lesbian ships. Some are so obvious they might as well be canon. Some we made up because it would have made the story more feminist. Most involve painfully beautiful women who stare at each other's lips a little too much. All are a blast to discuss!
