Women And Words: The Funny Wine, Andi The Pirate & Jove Without Clothes

July 23, 2017

Women and Words

Overview 15-21 July 2017

Andi and Jove talk about Jove’s wardrobe (or lack thereof) and bottles of wine named “If You See Kay”. Say that fast and you’ll see why they giggled about it…they’re 10, they know. But more importantly, this is badass women wine. Hit the link to see why. Also, Jove is pretty sure Andi’s outlaw job would be as some kind of pirate while she’s now interested in purchasing bordello land. Andi suggested Craigslist.

15 July: Women and Wordster Erin Saluta posted about the cruise she took on Olivia to Alaska that was put together by Sapphire Books and Curve Mag among others. And she talks a bit about lesfic history and LGBT history and about her place and our places in the world.

Women and Words link HERE

16 July: Author Jen Silver stopped by to chat about her latest, Running From Love, and how it incorporates golf. She also gave away two copies.

Jove then reminded folks about ClexaCon 2018, which is in April in Las Vegas and GCLS has actually started registration for 2018, which is also in Vegas (July). She also mentioned an event coming up this fall in Seattle – the Read with Pride Northwest meetup (formerly Gay Romance Northwest). It’s usually held at the Seattle Public Library and it’s usually free. Jove will probably be there and Andi mentioned that she will be doing the Western Women Writers of New Mexico meetup Sept. 16 in Albuquerque.

Also, you simply must get tourist pennies smashed and send them to Jove. Not sure what those are? Technically, they’re called “elongated coins” and what it involves is you put a penny into a machine and for 50 cents U.S. the machine flattens the coin and literally stretches it and imprints a tourist scene from the area into that new surface. Jove collects them. So drop her a line if you get one and if you’re willing, send it to her. She LOOOOOOOOVES them.

Herein lies our lists--what are yours?

22 April: Author Anna Larner joined us to discuss her debut novel with Bold Strokes Books, Highland Fling. She also did a giveaway, because we are big into giveaways.

Women And Words: Swearing, Politics and Literature

March 26, 2017

Women and Words

overview 18-24 March 2017

Andi and Jove confess that they swear while fangirling over KD Williamson. They then realize that they really need to take a course on British political parties. (Which may or may not include swearing, depending on how well they do on the exams.)

18 Mar.: Author KD Williamson joined us to talk a bit about “happily ever after” and her forthcoming release, Between the Lines.

Women And Words: Adulting Is Difficult

March 12, 2017

Women and Words

Overview 5-10 March 2017

Andi and Jove are of the opinion that adulting can be difficult. They are also passionate about supporting writers and artists, and think fandoms rock. Plus, they wonder if maybe Fiona Zedde will ever take them with her on her travels.

5 Mar.: Author Heather McVea self publishes her work, and she broke down the costs that go into creating a book (not counting the countless hours that go into writing one). Some may find this eye-opening.

6 Mar.: Author and Women and Wordster Lynette Mae on privilege and “tolerance” and how it’s used.

Women And Words: Weekly Roundup 18-24 Feb & The Medieval Pass

February 26, 2017

Women and Words

Overview, 18-24 Feb. 2017

Andi and Jove attempt to figure out what exactly a “Medieval Pass” is before they wax serious with regard to Ashley Bartlett’s blog and then Renée Bess’ blog. They’re glad that Women and Words is the kind of space contributors feel comfortable expressing thoughts on the topics both Ashley and Renée addressed this week. And then they got crazy again and rave about the movie Mad Max: Fury Road because nothing says date night like post-apocalyptic car chases across a vast wasteland. Especially with Charlize Theron driving. CHARLIZE THERON, people. She can drive us anywhere she wants!

18 Feb.:  A call for submissions posted, from Sapphire Books.
