Women and Words: The Janes, Gender, and Music Jams

January 21, 2018

Women and Words Overview - 13-19 Jan. 2018

Andi doesn’t have to have the sadz anymore because Jove kicked the sickness cooties to the curb and came back! Yay! Plus, R.G. Emanuelle will be releasing a new book soon and for the record, Andi was more into Yaz than Erasure back in the day, much to Jove’s chagrin. But they do both agree that you haven’t lived until you’ve blasted The Cranberries’ “Zombie” while driving at night with all the windows down. (RIP Dolores O’Riordan)

Jove also recommends the documentary She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry, about Second Wave Feminism. Includes a discussion about the Jane Collective, an underground abortion referral service that operated roughly 1969-1973 in Illinois. (and it appears the male doctor they first worked with was “Nick,” not “Mike,” as Jove and Andi discussed on the podcast.)
