The Importance of Self-Love & Self-Care

Seize the Day Podcast

Welcome to Seize the Day Podcast with Natalie Miller-Snell.

In todays show I explore the importance of Self-Love and Self-Care.

I talk through some great tips including: -

  • Good sleep
  • Food / diet
  • Taking breaks
  • Exercise
  • Activities which help you feel your best
  • Learning to say no
  • Putting yourself first

Seize the Day was inspired by my favourite latin expression, Carpe Diem. I’ve had some great mentors throughout my life who have offered me invaluable guidance. I'm hoping to do the same through these podcasts.  We have so many wonders at our fingertips; sometimes we just need a little help, or someone to point us in the right direction.

I hope you enjoy the show!

Quote from the Show by Kristin Neff, a pioneer of self-compassion: -

“Self-compassion involves treating yourself with the same kindness, concern, and support you’d show to a good friend. When faced with difficult life struggles, or confronting personal mistakes, failures, and inadequacies, self-compassion responds with kindness rather than harsh self-judgment, recognizing that imperfection is part of the shared human experience.”

(Neff & Dahm, 2015)

Les Talk About It Series: Relationships

Relationships are important for humans. We need them to survive, never mind thrive. In this series we delve into relationships and break down some statistics and realities because, let’s face it, most us just muddle through and don’t necessarily have the skillset to rally make a relationship work.

About The Hosts

Sheena comes from a media background and in 2014 she started The Lesbian Review, a website dedicated to reviewing the best lesbian books and movies. In 2016 A podcast channel seemed like a natural progression and so she started The Lesbian Talk Show

Sheena discovered lesbian fiction in her late teens and it helped her with her coming out process, something for which she will always be grateful.

Tamara is a marketing professional and has branched out into design and photography. Her natural love for research and learning meant that she was the perfect podcast partner when Sheena wanted to start Les Talk About It. (Well, that and the fact that Tamara is married to Sheena.)

Embracing Anxiety and Mental Health with Singer, Songwriter Ash Harris - Curves Welcome

Curves Welcome with Suzie Carr

I have welcomed a talented artist on today's show. We're going to chat about some of life's curves and how they helped shape the course of their life.

I am so excited to introduce you to Ash Harris, also known as Acoustic Ash. Ash is a prolific indie singer songwriter who continues to excel within the songwriting field whether it be through political poetry or the ever-emotionally evoking and sincerity of Ash's interpretation of everyday events. These events include loss, love, money, and politics.

Ash uses an acoustic guitar in a smoky, soulful expression as a platform for diversity and equality. Rumor has it that if you stick around to the end of this episode you will be in for a musical treat.

And what a treat it is!

How to Deal with Creative Burnout - Curves Welcome

Curves Welcome with Suzie Carr

It is great to have goals and desires and a steady pulse on actions. But, it’s only great as long as you are not burning the wick on both ends. Because when you do that, that light, that energy will fizzle out.

Have you ever felt this way? Completely overwhelmed and unable to continue with projects, even those projects you absolutely love? You’re not alone. Even the most passionate of creative people can end up burning out from the pressure of always trying to keep up with an unrealistic pace.

Here's how to avoid it:

  • Unplug
  • Find harmony in the work you do
  • Add wiggle room
  • Change your environment
  • Meditate with deep breathing

How to be More Assertive - Curves Welcome

Curves Welcome with Suzie Carr

To be able to clearly communicate your ideas assertively in a way that stabilizes a situation is a skill that is hard to learn. The key here for those of you who are not naturally assertive is that it’s a skill that can be learned. If you don’t learn it, the costs can be great to both personal and professional relationships and problems will continue to build until you take a step to neutralize them.

In this episode, we explore these tips to becoming more assertive:

  • State the problem from your viewpoint
  • Validate and show empathy for the other person
  • State your needs and feelings
  • Be straightforward
  • Pay attention to body language

Doing the Right Thing

Seize the Day Podcast

Welcome to Seize the Day Podcast with Natalie Miller-Snell.

In todays show, I explore a very simple concept - ‘Doing the Right Thing’.  The show was inspired by a video I posted on social media (link below).  How often do we actually do the right thing?  It can mean coming out of your comfort zone, getting vulnerable and walking into the unknown.  It can also mean a bit of self reflection.  It’s a very interesting concept and question to ask ourselves.

What Your Stuff Says About You — Coffee Break With KA and Dana

What Your Stuff Says About You — Coffee Break With KA and Dana

What Your Stuff Says About You

Coffee Break With KA & Dana: Meaningful Conversations From A Lesbian Perspective

According to Psychology Today, arguing about taste is as fundamental as having it in the first place. We take for granted that different people enjoy different things—and that others feel as confident in their judgments as we do in ours. Our choices in books, music, art, and design go to the core of who we are. In this episode, KA and Dana discuss:

  • What your stuff says about you
  • What having a lot of books says about you
  • What your taste in music, art, and movies says about you
  • How your taste in music relates to your intelligence
  • Whether authors are introverts or extroverts

KA is an author of lesbian fiction with degrees in counseling, psychology, and social work. She writes stories about lesbians, burdened by past trauma, who find healing in the love of a soul mate.

Dana is an avid reader, a recovering alcoholic, a fisher-woman, and a graduate of the school of hard knocks.

As co-hosts, they're quite the duo. Connect with them online at www.kamoll.com
